Dr. Dorothea Bartels教授，德国人，早年在德国汉诺威大学获得博士学位，有5年在剑桥做博士后经历。曾经在德国马普植物育种所任Group Leader，在德国波恩大学和荷兰阿姆斯特丹自由大学任教授、系主任和副校长等职。现在是德国波恩大学的C4教授，波恩大学Deputy Dean for Research of the Faculty of Mathematics & Natural Sciences。长期从事植物耐脱水机理的研究，在国际上最早开始复苏植物抗旱分子机理的研究，在EMBO J., Plant Cell, Plant J., Plant Physiol.，PLANT CELL AND ENVIRONMENT, The Biochemical journal, Proteomics 及Trends in plant science，Annu. Rev. Plant Physiol. Plant Mol. Biol.等著名刊物发表研究论文和综述数十篇。
