1990年获山西大学学士学位;1993年和1995年分别获中国科学院沈阳应用生态研究所硕士和博士学位,1995至1997年在中国科学院植物研究所从事博士后研究,2001-2004年任日本国立环境研究所特别研究员,2006-2007年任日本鸟取大学干燥地研究中心客座副教授。1997-至今在中国科学院植物研究所工作。现任《生态学杂志》编委、《生态与农村环境学报》编委、《Frontiers in Plant Science》Associate Editor;环境保护部环境损害鉴定评估专家鉴定委员会委员;华西亚高山植物园主任。发表学术论文160多篇,其中SCI论文70多篇;2001年获国家科技部等四部委“九五”攻关先进工作者。已培养博士和硕士29名;正在指导博士生和硕士生4名。
主要研究工作:
1. 杜鹃属植物生态适应与资源保育
建立杜鹃属植物功能性状、分布、气候、土壤、群落数据库;采用数量生态学方法,分析杜鹃属植物功能性状、分布与环境的关系及其适应不同生境的机理;收集、保育全球杜鹃属野生种,评价其引种驯化潜力、新种质研发前景;传统育种技术与现代分子生物学方法相结合,以我国特有杜鹃属植物为母本,进行种质创新。
2. 干旱、半干旱区生态系统观察、模拟与受损生态系统恢复
以我国干旱、半干旱区沙化草地、盐碱化土地等退化生态系统及荒漠化土地为研究对象,以土壤-植物水分平衡、生态系统碳动态为切入点,通过生态系统长期野外观察,野外调查数据与群落生长机理模型相结合,分析、模拟植物群落土壤植物系统的水分平衡、蒸发动力、湿度系数、热力动力、光能转换等过程,分析植物群落结构与功能的动态过程。通过研发和集成荒漠化防治单项技术,完善干旱、半干旱区受损生态系统治理的优化生态生产范式,并进行大规模示范与推广。
3. 植被格局和过程分析、模拟与高精度植被图编研
基于地形、土壤、植被、气候、水文等要素的地面与遥感观测数据,解析青藏高原、黑河流域、雄安新区等关键区域主要植被类型对多要素环境的生态适应性,采用动静态模型模拟相结合的方法分析植被分布格局,解析主要生态要素和植被空间分布的关系;在此基础上编制区域高精度植被图。
4. 山水林田湖草沙系统保护和修复的方法与技术
突出对国家重大战略的生态支撑,围绕国家山水林田湖草沙一体化保护和修复的生态文明建设实践需求,研究“三区四带”国家重点生态区区域尺度山水林田湖草沙的分布格局、结构、功能和过程,识别区域内制约人与自然和谐共生的主要生态、经济和社会发展制约因素与突出问题,提出基于自然的区域尺度山水林田湖草沙系统保护与修复技术方案,服务国家与地方的生态文明建设。
